Moonknight; A Deep dive into the psyche of a man with DID

I can't believe that I am writing about a streaming series ahead of the FOX X Men or Marvel movies, of which but I just had to share my thoughts about my favorite TV show. Not knowing much about this character made it even more intriguing. Of course I am talking about Moonknight.

The story centers around Steven Grant, a museum porter who happens to suffer from black out episodes that seems so real that he has trouble distinguishing fact from fiction. it gets so bad that Steven chains himself to his bed at night for the feat that he would hurt himself or others. Things start to unravel one night when Steven works late one night and he is is attacked by a Egyptian demon creature and discovers he has an alter ego, Marc Spector, who happens to be a superhero Moonknight. To save himself he relinquishes control to Marc.

This experience shakes Steven to the core as it dawns on him that all his 'dreams' have been real. He learns that he has an alternate persona who has a  whole other life. He discovers Marc is a mercenary who is left for dead, but made a deal with Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon and becomes his avatar. Steven meets Layla, Marc's wife who aids him with his quest, while trying to evade Khonshu's former avatar and the goddess Ammit's follower, Arthur Harrow.

Oscar Issac is brilliant as Steven Grant/ Marc Spector. He seamlessly switches between pacifist and action hero. I especially love this series as it does a deep dive into the psychological condition known as Dissociative identity Disorder, or DID. Psychologist believe that a new alter ego emerges to deal with and protect the original personality during a life altering traumatic experience. You can tell that the showrunner's did a lot of research to accurately depict and represent the condition, adding new depth to a already complex character. Couple that with Egyptian mythology and an Indiana Jones vibes and you have a winner. My favorite Marvel TV show so far!
